There are so many different instruments out there to choose from. Between the guitar, drums, and even voice lessons, the options seem endless. Taking any kind of music lesson is great to include in your daily routine and brings many benefits. So what are the benefits of piano lessons at OSMD?

Improves concentration and focus

Focus and concentration are both key factors in taking piano lessons. You need to be able to concentrate on playing the keys with both hands while also reading the sheet music. After taking piano lessons for a while you will begin to see an improvement in your ability to concentrate on tasks.

Improves hand-eye coordination

As stated before, to play the piano correctly you need to be able to use both hands playing at the same time. This may seem difficult at first but will get easier with time. This key skill will help boost your coordination in general.

This isn’t a bad kind of discipline, but a good kind. In order to become a master of the piano, practice really does make perfect. You need to be able to set aside time to practice your songs and this encourages a good kind of discipline and self-motivation.

Learning how to play the piano can open many doors for you. Some middle schools, high schools, and colleges around the Omaha area have pianos in their bands and orchestras and need people to play! There are also some local bands that play around the Metro and you can join or even start one yourself! These are just some of the opportunities that piano lessons can give.

This may surprise you, but studies have shown that taking any music lessons, especially piano, can help improve your math and reading skills. Playing the piano is like an accretive exercise for the mind and can help improve your scholarly skills!
