Welcome to week six of blog series featuring questionnaires about our fantastic staff here at the Omaha School of Music and Dance. We hope that you are enjoying learning about the private lives of our instructors that spend time with your children every week! This week we are featuring our String instructor, Heidi Copeland! Heidi was gone for a few weeks on maternity leave and we are really excited to have her back to work this month!
What instruments do you play/teach?
I play and teach violin and piano.
What are your hobbies outside of music?
I like to play table-top games, cook, hang out with my kitties, knit, and go on walks with my husband and baby.
Why did you decided to become a teacher?
I have a passion to spread the love of music. I really enjoy helping people and seeing them feel like they accomplish things and meet their goals. This comes from generations of music teachers, so it’s no surprise I started teaching when I was a teenager.
Who do you admire most and why?
My grandfather was the kindest, gentlest, most genuine person I’ve ever know. His love for music and extreme patience is something I strive for in my life.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
I would go to Ireland. Playing traditional Celtic music for eight years, I would fit in there. When I visited back in 2009, I felt like I belonged, even if I am only 1/16th Irish!
What is your favorite song?
“Today” by Joshua Radin
What is one thing you couldn’t live without?
I could not live without my family!
