Our children’s choirs is for children ages 6-10. The choir is 15 or fewer students we keep the choir to a smaller number so we can get to know each and every student and give them each personalized attention. The OSMD Choir has two different class times and they meet for 45 minutes in length once a week. The two different classes times that we offer are on Monday evenings @ 5:45pm and Saturday mornings @ 10:30am.
The choir is a great opportunity to work on your solo voice, as well as, your group voice the director makes sure to offer many solo opportunities during each song that they work on. The director focuses on the basics of proper breathing technique, singing posture and formation, pitch recognition, and proper vowel formations. The combined choirs perform in 1 concert per year in May at The Performance at Grace University.
Interesting Vocal Fact: Singing releases endorphins in the brain, such as oxytocin, which is a natural stress reliever and it can also alleviate feelings of stress, depression, and loneliness.
