For teens and adults who are looking to refine their lyrical dance skills and perfect their form, our Omaha contemporary dance classes will help dancers boost their strength with controlled legwork, and work on their stamina with floor work and fall and recovery dance techniques. Contemporary dance is a style that typically deals with the abstract in both form and content. Unlike other more structured forms of dance, the movements are generally intended to be performed with a released or relaxed quality and can be completely improvised. Contemporary dance is very fluid in nature and in addition, it draws influences from many different dance styles and cultures such as, African jazz, jazz music, ballet, and eastern dance styles just to name a few.

Contemporary Dance Classes for Teens & Adults
Contemporary dance also follows closely on the heels of the modern dance movement which was brought forth through pioneers such as Isadora Duncan, Martha Graham, Merce Cunningham, Jose Limon, and Lester Horton who all developed their own unique style and techniques that many still practice today.
All of our contemporary dance classes for teens and adults are 45 minutes long and are limited to only 12 students per class. Our goal is to keep our classes small so that our instructors can work with students collectively and individually without distraction. Each one of our instructors is trained and experienced so that our dancers can blossom and grow into masters of dance.
Fun Contemporary Dance Fact: African dance moves with bent knees or even Butoh from the Japanese dances are often incorporated in contemporary dance to include more avant garde or experimental elements in the performance.
